My name is Aldis Straubergs. My journey began in the automotive industry in Riga, eventually leading me to this challenging yet rewarding project—creating a countryside retreat.

A few years ago, I left the hustle and bustle of the city and took on an ambitious project – building a hobbit-style house on my family’s ancestral land in Rēzekne, Ludza District, just 10 kilometers from Lake Rāzna. Inspired by The Lord of the Rings, my deep respect for nature, and countless hours of research, I turned my vision into reality.

 

From the first shovel in the ground to the finished house, the project took exactly 1,411 days to finish. With the help of a talented local carpenter and blacksmith, and under the guidance of a passionate architect, every detail was carefully crafted – from the round entrance doors to the custom-made kitchen and bathroom furniture – creating a perfect balance between natural beauty and thoughtful design.

 

Our hobbit house offers a cozy yet spacious retreat with two floors, featuring four double beds, a living area, a sauna, a cold plunge pool, and a hot tub. It’s ideal for families and groups, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere all year round.
